A Southern California native, Donald Miralle work has been featured for nearly two decades on the covers and pages of New York Times, Newsweek, Golf Digest, ESPN the Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Men’s Journal, Outside, and National Geographic, as well as shooting major brand campaigns for Nike, Discovery Channel, Dicks Sporting Goods, Target, Gatorade, Ironman and the NFL Players Association. He has covered every major sporting event and athlete in the last 20 years including 9 Olympic Games and 15 Super Bowls. Donald has received over 50 international awards for his work including six World Press Photo Awards and has been named the Sports Photojournalist of the Year by both the National Press Photographers Association and Pictures of the Year International multiple times. He has also served on the contest jury for the Best of Photojournalism, Swedish Pictures of the Year, and the Wisconsin and Utah Press Photographers Associations Contests and his work has been featured inmagazines including Photo District News, British Journal of Photography, The Holland Times, Top Magazine in Brazil and on TV shows including ESPN and the 'Today Show'. Donald has served as a keynote speaker at many events including the PDN PhotoPlus Expo, Great White North Workshop, and is active with the education of photojournalism at colleges and workshops including Brooks Institute, Art Center College of Design, and Sportsshooter Academies. In 2013, Italian Publisher Dueeotto, Nikon Italy, La Stampa Newspaper, and Major Co. sponsored the Donald Miralle 2.8 Workshop, the first hands-on photography workshop of it’s kind in the country. In 2014, Donald founded Leucadia Photoworks, a photography cooperative and studio in North County San Diegothat promotes the development of local talent and the education photographic arts. In his spare time, Donald surf and swims everyday, and is an elite paddleboarder, having been one of a few people who have completed solo crossing of the Molokai to Oahu World Championships Ka’Iwi on both a prone and standup paddleboard. He lives in the funky surf town of Leucadia, California with his wife Lauren and their two sons Luke and Micah.
